Game Mastery

Random Observation

by on Dec.08, 2008, under observations

I’ve never had a cleric in a game I ran.  Long term anyway.  One player got her bard ousted from the group for being too much of a bitch.  She came back with a friendlier cleric, but that was two sessions before the game ended so it hardly counts.  And I had a cleric in the rotating GM campaign, but since I wasn’t the only GM that counts even less.

Let’s see if I can recall all my games.  Summer of ’03 was my first.  No cleric.  Instead we had a special ranger with a wand.  Summer of ’04-’05 was a WoD mini game so that doesn’t count.  ’06 was the one with 2 sessions of cleric.  And fall 06 – early 07 was my rogue game which was definitely clericless (though there was a lot of UMD).  My current game is set in Westeros where clerics aren’t really an option.  We have a master leechcrafter.  But no godsworn, which is the closest thing to a cleric in the whole setting.

I’ll accept that in the rogue game it’s my own fault (even if temple raiders of oli-damara are damn cool).   But other than that I have no idea why people don’t want to cleric it up in my games.  Weird.
